Smart Places & Connected Communities
This whitepaper aims to demystify how to drive digital transformation in the Public Sector and shares best practice stories from Microsoft's partners and customers and their learnings which will empower you to confidently build the smart places and connected communities of our future today.
The document will explore use cases in action from five core areas - Caring & healthy; Educated & aspiring; Safe & secure; Sustainable, efficient & green; and Reimagining local services – to help you decide where to start, or where to focus next.
The core challenges facing local services in 2018 are well known: continuing austerity, increasing demand for services and an ageing population. This document highlights the inspiring, technology-based innovation that is springing up across our local public services sector to meet today's tough challenges - and delivering real change on the ground. These innovations are not always the result of major 'smart city' investments, rather they are born of necessity and the desire to deliver ever better, ever more efficient public services that meet real people's needs. All the innovation in this document is underpinned by Microsoft technologies, which are designed to integrate, to be flexible and open to the future. Importantly, this inherent flexibility means that innovations can start small and deliver quick wins – but that they can later be integrated through common platforms, standards and technology to deliver our CityNext vision of smart places and connected communities.
The stories in this document are pulled together into five core areas - Caring & healthy; Educated & aspiring; Safe & secure; Sustainable, efficient & green; and Reimagining local services – to help you decide where to start, or where to focus next.
