Lillian Barnard

Managing Director, Microsoft South Africa

With more than 20 years’ experience in the ICT industry, Lillian is a seasoned professional with proven capabilities and a strong understanding of local market. She has held various executive positions, both locally and abroad, and as such has gained extensive knowledge in sales, operations, business controls, strategy, business transformation and leadership. This experience, combined with her deep industry knowledge, positions her perfectly to deliver on Microsoft's digital transformation ambitions in South Africa, thereby empowering governments, organisations and individuals to achieve more.

Lillian is renowned for building strong, high-performing teams that consistently deliver on their financial targets, while also bringing innovative digital solutions to her partners and customers. Having led large teams both locally and abroad, she is recognised for strength in developing people and creating an environment where everyone can do their best work.

Lillian is passionate about enabling a truly diverse and inclusive workplace. By drawing on her own experiences, she endeavors to create a culture that enables people to bring their authentic selves to the workplace and be embraced for that individuality.

Scott Giles

Founder and Director, Technology Training Academy & Deftech

Scott Giles currently runs a number of businesses all focused around Education during and after school hours. Having studied to be a teacher and taught in the UK and South Africa for 10 years, my dream is to see every child in South Africa afforded the opportunity to experience technology in one way or another whilst at school, whilst supporting teachers using and implementing technology in their virtual and real classrooms. Scott started his Flipped classroom training for teachers five years ago, having experienced and understood the value technology will bring not only the classroom, child and teacher but society as a whole as we soldier into the technology enveloped future.

Mdu Zakwe

CEO, MICT SETA

Mdu Zakwe is a qualified Chartered Accountant with an MBA in IT & E-Commerce. He is also certified in applied cyber security with MIT (Boston -USA). He is currently completing his PhD in cyber security education with Unisa.

Mdu has worked in many blue chip companies like Unilever, FirstRand, Anglo-gold Ashanti, EY and KPMG and has served as Chairperson on boards and board committees both in the private and public sector. He has also served on institutions of professional interest like the Computer Society of South Africa (as VP Professional Development), South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (as President -Eastern Region and Board Member), Black IT Forum KZN ( Treasurer), Institute of Risk Management Southern Africa (Risk Intelligence Committee) and currently with Chartered CIO Council (Head Professional Development). In his early days he was a Tutor at University of Natal and a lecturer at Boston College.

Mdu was instrumental in the sector skills plan of Bankseta when he was Chair of its Sector Skills Planning Committee. He also made a great impact in turning around ICT of Services SETA when he acted as CIO. He was also instrumental in systems migration at Fasset when he was a member of its Audit & Risk Committee and now he is also leading the Shared Services Centre of all the SETA’s towards an integrated ICT platform that can save costs and eliminate wastage within SETA’s ICT expenditure.

In his past time, he Enjoys developing cyber security board games that can help our youth become cyber aware of the Risks and threats of being in a cyber space.

John Luis

Head of Academics – Schools Division, ADvTECH

John began his teaching career in 1989 and over the years took up leadership positions including Head of Reddam House in Bedfordview, South Africa in 2003. In 2010, he was appointed Senior Deputy Principal of the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy and in June 2015, he took up his current role, Head of Academics of the AdvTECH schools division.

John is currently the Internal Moderator for the National Mathematics Examination administered through the Independent Examinations Board(IEB) of South Africa and was first appointed as Examiner in 2006.

John is currently completing a Masters in Arts specializing in Technology and Learning Design through the University pf Roehampton.

Ian Bayley

Executive Head: Education, SIS Global

Ian’s background in EdTech and the education sector began in 2005. He fulfilled a consulting role for several small, private higher Education institutes assisting them to drive efficiencies and improved service delivery Ian took the institutions from what were largely, manual paper based environments, to automated system driven environments supported by the relevant technology.

Ian has a strong background and understanding of academic processes and has sat on the ‘Educor Groups Academic Advisory Board’, instrumental to the quality and strategic planning committees and the new programme development.

Ian went on to further develop his career and after 9 Years at Educor. He made the decision to continue his consultancy excellence in the education sector for a short period and went on to join SIS Global in 2018 as ‘Executive Head for Education’ managing their ‘Global Education Practice’.

Ian has an extensive background in the higher education sector, a wealth of experience in EdTech, Student information Systems and project delivery, which has enabled him to influence and work closely with several large private and public institutes, taking them to the next level in terms of efficiency and student delivery; very much in line with where services are now requested across the Globe.

Raymond Campbell

CEO, Phulukisa Health Solutions

Raymond is a qualified Urology Surgeon and has been practicing as a physician in the public health arena since 1999.

In 2015 I felt a need to pursue a different path to make a more fulfilling impact which is when I started Phulukisa Health Solutions. Together with Microsoft we developed one of the most exciting and innovative primary health solutions that have won acclaim and led to us being named as one of the 10 people to inspire globally by Satya Nadella and also winning the Microsoft Emerging Partner of the Year.

Covid has brought it’s own set of challenges, but we had been solving for just such a dilemma which sees us in a position to deliver some of the most workable and practical solutions on various levels including the Education space.
