NIS2.0 is set to be the most comprehensive European cybersecurity directive yet covering 15 sectors and 160,000+ companies. The directive doesn't just apply to companies based in the EU, but also to any organization that provides digital services or operates essential services within the European Union, regardless of where they are based.

It aims to harmonize cybersecurity requirements and enforcement across Member States by setting a benchmark of 'minimum measures' including risk assessments, policies and procedures for cryptography, security procedures for employees with access to sensitive data, multi-factor authentication, and cybersecurity training.

It also directs companies to create a plan for handling security incidents and managing business operations during and after a security incident.
