City of Whittlesea leads award-winning smart cities network

Wednesday, 25th November 2020 | 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM (GMT+11:00) Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney

Connecting innovation and value through data

In this free webinar, you’ll hear from City of Whittlesea – one of Australia’s fastest growing municipalities from Melbourne’s northern suburbs. City of Whittlesea has embarked on an Internet of Things (IoT) driven digital transformation that establishes a Smart Cities network for five Victorian councils.

By setting up five different type of sensors such as water level monitoring, waste management and people counting, the data is then delivered and visualised through Power BI in order for the councils to make more efficient decisions.

Hear from Hans Wolf – Chief Information Officer at City of Whittlesea, and George Ibrahim – Head of Business Insights & Analytics as they share how they initiated the project, and how the Azure based data platform has delivered clarity to staff and provided better services to their residents.

You’ll learn:

  • Why the council wanted to improve their data collection and analytical capabilities
  • How their Smart Cities network has impacted other councils, staff and residents
  • Why they chose Azure and Power BI
  • Insights for other local councils and organisations looking to embark on an innovative data transformation project
